Rotel - RB-1590
Scale Without Losing the Smaller Details.
The Rotel RB-1590 stereo power amplifier delivers 350 watts per channel of Class AB power into 8 ohms, with both channels driven. A large room or less sensitive pair of speakers can ask a great deal of an amplifier. When musical peaks lose their impact or a full arrangement becomes difficult to follow, more volume is not the same as more authority.
The RB-1590 combines substantial output with a dual-transformer power supply and monoblock circuit architecture inside one stereo chassis. It is built for listeners who need the scale of a powerful separates system without treating voices, quieter accompaniment and stereo placement as secondary concerns.
Authority Starts With the Supply
Two Transformers, Substantial Reserve
Twin toroidal transformers are custom manufactured by Rotel and paired with eight British-made BHC slit-foil capacitors. The capacitors are selected for low loss and quick response, supporting the voltage and current demands of dynamic playback and difficult speaker loads. This is the foundation behind the output rating, not simply a larger number on the specification sheet.
Separate Channels, Shared Enclosure
The circuit layout follows a true monoblock design within a single stereo amplifier. The architecture is intended to maintain signal separation and improve stereo imaging. Circuit design and component selection are informed by extensive listening sessions, keeping refinement and detail central to the design rather than pursuing power alone.
Built to Fit a Serious System
Connections and Control
Balanced XLR and RCA inputs provide connections for a suitable preamplifier or processor. Two pairs of 5-way speaker binding posts accommodate speaker connections, while 12V trigger control supports coordinated operation with compatible equipment. The RB-1590 is a power amplifier, so source selection and volume control belong upstream in your system.
Protection and Installation
Thermal, overcurrent and over-voltage protection circuits are joined by a dual-stage power-on relay. The relay reduces startup surge current and is intended to support longevity. A detachable IEC power cord and included rack ears provide installation flexibility in the 5U chassis. Check both the dimensions and ventilation requirements when planning its place in your system.
For an audition, bring a recording that moves from restraint to a full, energetic mix. Follow the bass line, the character of the voice and the quieter parts through that change. The useful test is whether the system preserves those relationships as the demands increase.
