Power for the Impact. Care for Everything Around It.

The Rotel RB-1582 MkII stereo power amplifier delivers 200 watts per channel, supported by a large toroidal transformer and 60,000µF of slit-foil capacitor storage. A kick drum should have impact without masking the bass line. A full chorus should expand without pushing the voice or quieter accompaniment out of focus. Power matters, but keeping those relationships intact is what makes it worth having.

The RB-1582 MkII combines substantial output capability with meticulous circuit design and parts selection. It is a dedicated power amplifier for use with a suitable preamplifier or processor, designed to serve both the demanding peaks and the subtle details of a recording in a stereo or home theatre system.

The Engineering Behind the Reserve

A Substantial Power Supply

A large toroidal transformer works with 60,000µF of storage in special slit-foil capacitors. These capacitors charge and discharge quickly, supporting a stable supply to the output stage through dynamic musical passages. Repeated kick-drum impacts and sudden changes in level are useful examples of why reserve energy and its delivery both matter.

Individual Attention to Each Channel

After the shared toroidal transformer, the left and right channels follow a monoblock-style layout. This arrangement gives each channel a distinct construction within one stereo enclosure. All grounding terminates in a star pattern on a copper grounding plate, an approach intended to keep unwanted noise low.

A Discrete Output Stage

Each channel uses ten high-current bipolar transistors in a discrete output-stage design. The amplifier brings that output capability together with attention to the smaller signals, rather than treating strength and resolution as separate goals. It is an example of Rotel’s Balanced Design Concept: circuit design and component choices considered as a complete system.

Connections for a Separates System

Balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs accommodate compatible preamplifiers and processors. Choose the connection that suits the rest of your equipment. Whether the amplifier is part of a dedicated two-channel system or powers a stereo pair within a home theatre, speaker matching and the complete system remain more important than the wattage figure alone.

For an audition, bring music with both a strong rhythmic foundation and quieter layers. Follow the bass, the voice and the accompaniment as the arrangement fills out. That is a more useful test than simply seeing how loudly the system will play.
