Accuphase E-6000 Integrated Amplifier
Everything Accuphase knows. Nothing between you and the music. The closest you can get to pure separates.
When the Quiet Parts Matter as Much as the Loud Ones
Plenty of amplifiers can play loud. The harder job is the passage that goes from a whisper to a full orchestra in a few bars. That is where bass can blur, voices can lose their place in the mix, and the quiet before the crescendo can get buried under the system's own noise.
Chosen to Do Both Jobs in One Chassis
We chose the Accuphase E-6000 because it is built for dynamics and quiet passages at once. It is the most powerful integrated amplifier Accuphase makes, at 260 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 350 watts into 4 ohms. It also carries a guaranteed signal-to-noise ratio of 112 dB, the lowest Accuphase specifies for an integrated amplifier.
What the Specs Won't Tell You
Bass Keeps Its Shape When the Music Gets Big. The output stage is a six-fold parallel push-pull design in the same circuit configuration as Accuphase's flagship P-7500 power amplifier. Its damping factor of 1,000 matches the P-7500's. Feedback is taken from right at the speaker terminals, on both the signal and the ground line, and the speaker protection uses MOS-FET switches instead of mechanical relays. Nothing in that path adds resistance between the amplifier and the cone, which is what keeps a bass line tuneful instead of loose.
The Quiet Passages Stay Quiet. Balanced AAVA volume control removes every variable resistor from the signal path. There are two AAVA modules per channel, and ANCC circuitry cancels noise and distortion. The signal stays fully balanced from input to output. The power stage uses an instrumentation amplifier design that receives the positive and negative signals together, so noise common to both is rejected. That matters most at low levels, where room ambience, a breath before a vocal and the tail of a cymbal.
Power That Has Somewhere to Come From. A toroidal transformer 25 mm larger in diameter than the E-5000's feeds two 47,000 µF filter capacitors. They are the reserve the amplifier draws on when a dynamic peak arrives. Left and right power amplifier modules are built separately, so the channels are not sharing a path.
The Audio Two Verdict
The E-6000 is the one we point to when a system needs real power and a very quiet background in the same amplifier. It suits large floorstanders, low-efficiency speakers, and the kind of listening where you play a record front to back and the dynamics are half the reason. The power is there for the peaks, and the noise figure is there for everything underneath them. Add the AD-60 for vinyl or the DAC-60 for streaming and the front end lives in the same chassis. Plan the shelf, though: it is 38.6 kg and 502 mm deep.
Tech You Can Hear
| What You Hear | Why It Happens |
|---|---|
| Bass stays controlled when the music gets large | Damping factor of 1,000 with balanced remote sensing at the speaker terminals |
| Demanding speakers get the current they ask for | Six-fold parallel push-pull bipolar output stage, 260W into 8 ohms and 350W into 4 ohms |
| Dynamic peaks have reserve behind them | Enlarged toroidal transformer and two 47,000 µF filter capacitors |
| Quiet passages sit on a lower noise floor | Balanced AAVA with ANCC and a guaranteed 112 dB signal-to-noise ratio |
| Less outside noise gets into the signal | Fully balanced path with an instrumentation amplifier power stage |
| Nothing extra sits between amplifier and speaker | MOS-FET speaker protection switches with 0.84 mΩ on-resistance instead of mechanical relays |
| Vinyl or streaming can live in the same chassis | Two option slots for the AD-60 phono and DAC-60 boards, sold separately |
| Private listening gets proper amplification | Dedicated headphone amplifier with discrete circuitry |
