Yamaha CD-C603 CD Changer

Sometimes the best music source is the shelf of discs you already own.

When One Album Is Not Enough

A single-disc player is clean and simple, but it is not always ideal when the goal is longer listening without getting up every forty minutes. For collections that still get used, a proper changer can make CDs feel practical again.

The Yamaha CD-C603 is built for that kind of listening: five discs ready to go, useful playback controls, and a signal path that still belongs in a hi-fi system.

A 5-Disc Yamaha Changer That Still Takes Sound Seriously

We chose the CD-C603 because it combines the convenience of a 5-disc carousel with Yamaha hi-fi features. PlayXChange lets four discs be changed while the fifth continues playing, and the fully opening tray makes loading a full set of discs straightforward.

Pure Direct can shut down the digital audio output and display for lower noise through the analog output. The CD-C603 also supports USB playback for MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, and FLAC files, with WAV and FLAC support up to 96 kHz/24-bit.

What the Specs Won't Tell You

It Makes Background Listening Feel Less Disposable

This is useful for long afternoons, dinners, showrooms, and anyone who still likes choosing a few albums and letting them play. It keeps the experience hands-on without turning it into work.

It Connects Like a Real Hi-Fi Source

RCA analog output keeps setup simple, while optical output gives the option to use an external DAC or digital input on a receiver or integrated amplifier.

It Handles More Than Just Standard CDs

CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and front-panel USB playback give the CD-C603 more flexibility than a basic changer, especially for mixed collections.

The Audio Two Verdict

The CD-C603 is a practical choice when the CD collection still matters and convenience is part of the appeal. It is not the piece we would build a flagship system around, but it is a useful Yamaha source for many music systems.

For the right room, the right collection, or a system that needs long-play disc convenience, it still makes sense.
