NAD - C 588 Turntable

$1,449

A carefully engineered NAD turntable for cleaner vinyl playback without overcomplicating the system.

When Vinyl Deserves More Than a Starter Deck

Records can sound warm and engaging, but only when the turntable is quiet, stable, and properly set up. Motor noise, vibration, poor speed control, and a basic tonearm can blur the music before it reaches the amplifier.

The C 588 is NAD's answer for vinyl listeners who want a more serious source without turning setup into a project.

A Belt-Drive Turntable Built Around Noise Control

We chose the NAD C 588 because it puts the engineering where vinyl playback needs it most: speed stability, vibration control, tonearm quality, and cartridge alignment. It uses belt drive with electronic speed control, a precision AC motor with isolated power supply, a 10mm glass platter, rigid MDF plinth, tuned isolation feet, and a 9-inch carbon fibre tonearm.

It also arrives with an Ortofon 2M Red moving magnet cartridge preinstalled, making it easier to get a capable vinyl system running properly from the start.

What the Specs Won't Tell You

Records Sound Cleaner When the Table Stays Quiet

The C 588 is designed to reduce vibration before it becomes part of the music. The belt drive, isolated power supply, glass platter, MDF plinth, and tuned feet all help the stylus read the groove with less interference.

The Tonearm Gives the Cartridge a Better Chance

The 9-inch carbon fibre tonearm helps reduce tracking error and gives the preinstalled Ortofon 2M Red a more stable platform. Better tracking means more believable vocals, cleaner transients, and less edge from worn or busy records.

Setup Has Room for Precision

Vertical tracking angle and azimuth adjustment matter because cartridges are mechanical. The C 588 gives the setup enough adjustment range to help the stylus sit correctly in the groove.

The Audio Two Verdict

The C 588 is a good NAD turntable when the system is ready for cleaner, more stable vinyl playback but the customer does not want a fragile or fussy deck. It pairs naturally with NAD amplifiers that include a proper MM phono input, or with an external phono stage in a more focused system.

For someone moving beyond entry-level vinyl, the C 588 offers a sensible mix of engineering, upgrade confidence, and everyday usability.
