REL HT/1510 Predator Subwoofer

$3,030

A high-output theatre subwoofer should make the room feel bigger without losing control.

When the Room Needs Real Low-Frequency Authority

Large rooms and serious theatre systems can make ordinary subwoofers feel small very quickly. The bass may be present, but it does not pressurize the space, support the soundtrack, or create the physical scale that makes a movie feel convincing.

The challenge is getting that authority without turning the room into uncontrolled rumble. Impact only matters if the bass stays quick, focused, and connected to the rest of the system.

The HT Series Model for Bigger Theatre Systems

We chose the REL HT/1510 Predator because it is the high-output model in the HT Series. It uses a 15-inch CarbonGlas driver, a 1,000-watt amplifier, low-frequency extension down to 20 Hz, and both RCA and XLR LFE input options.

This is the REL we would look at when the room needs more theatre scale than the HT/1003 MKII or HT/1205 MKII can comfortably provide. It is built for impact, but still carries REL’s expectation that bass should start, stop, and integrate properly.

What the Specs Won't Tell You

It Can Pressurize a Larger Room

The 15-inch driver and 1,000-watt amplifier give the HT/1510 Predator the output needed for larger spaces. That means action scenes, low-frequency effects, and big soundtrack moments feel more physical instead of simply louder.

It Keeps Theatre Bass More Organized

Power is only useful when it is controlled. REL’s driver design, amplifier platform, and PerfectFilter approach help the HT/1510 Predator deliver deep bass with better speed and shape than a crude high-output sub.

It Can Fit More Serious Theatre Plans

RCA and XLR LFE inputs make the HT/1510 Predator easier to specify in better theatre systems. Optional HT-Air MKII wireless support also gives more placement flexibility when the room layout makes cabling difficult.

The Audio Two Verdict

The REL HT/1510 Predator is the HT Series model we would choose when the room, speaker system, or theatre expectations are too large for the smaller HT models. It is still theatre-first, but it should not sound loose or detached when it is placed and tuned correctly.

If the goal is a music-first subwoofer for a serious stereo system, T/x or Serie S is usually the better conversation. If the goal is serious theatre impact with REL speed and control, the HT/1510 Predator earns its place while still avoiding the loose, one-note bass that makes music less engaging.
